COUNSELLING IN St Albans, Hertfordshire AND ONLINE

How I Work - Client Focused Counselling

My core approach is person-centred, which means that I believe you know ultimately what is best for you, but you might need time and space to work that out. I am not here to solve your problems, or ‘fix you’, but to offer a therapeutic relationship where you can safely explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences to find your own solutions and way forward.

I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I have been trained to bring in elements of other counselling approaches and techniques if that might help you explore your situation.

  • When working with anxiety, my first priority is to create safety, which will involve discovering which techniques (breathing, grounding, somatic regulation) will work best for you to bring calmness.
  • We might use aspects of CBT to examine thought processes and behaviour patterns
  • Look at the relationships in your life through the lens of Transactional Analysis
  • Explore how your experiences growing up have affected the way you think about yourself as an adult.
